The office phones are turned over daily to the answering service during lunch (Noon to 1 PM). The phones are rolled to the answering service by 5 PM on weekdays. The office is closed on weekends. Patient calls are automatically routed to the answering service once the phones have been rolled to them from the office. The provider on call will be paged by the answering service to respond to after hours phone calls from parents. Expanded evening hours with scheduled appointments (5 PM to 8:30 PM) are currently available on Wednesdays. Patients are seen on Wednesday evenings by APPOINTMENT ONLY.

We have additionally incorporated two Pediatric RNs (Jill Gaynor and Terri Rollinger) who exclusively answer triage calls on weekdays during regular office hours. Messages left for the daytime triage nurse are sequentially answered usually in the order in which they are received. Our goal is to return messages in a prompt and timely manner. At all times please contact the front desk if immediate assistance is required or you have an urgent question.

Gateway Pediatrics is pleased to partner with Valley Pediatric Triage (VPT) for after hours nurse triage service. The RNs of Valley Pediatric Triage are highly experienced and provide quality telephone triage to answer your phone calls in a timely manner after the office is closed. Valley Pediatric Triage also covers after hours phone calls on holidays and weekends. Dr. Sudha, Neva Schwartz (CPNP) and Carolyn Smeltzer (PNP) continue to provide back up for the triage nurse and can be contacted by VPT at all times when required.

Messages left specifically for Paulie Gatchell RN., IBCLC (Breastfeeding Consultation) or Dorothy Rzewnicki CPNP (Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics) will be returned at the respective provider's convenience/first available opportunity. Neither Paulie Gatchell or Dorothy Rzewnicki are available in the office every day. Please let our front desk know if you have an urgent message for either of these providers and they will attempt to contact them for a quick response.
