The Gardasil (HPV) Vaccine is recommended for girls aged 9 years and above. It is a set of 3 doses. There is an interval of 2 months between the 1st and 2nd doses, and 4 months between the 2nd and 3rd doses.

TB skin testing only done in children considered at high risk for TB exposure.

WCC is recommended annually by the American Academy of Pediatrics after age 5 years.

Urinalysis, BP checks, vision and hearing screen are done in children aged 4 years and older.

Other specific tests for example cholesterol and diabetes screening are done as warranted by the history and physical examination findings.

Autism Screening

Based on the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, we now perform an autism screening in toddlers using a questionnaire called the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (MCHAT). This simple questionnaire is a 1 page set of questions that the parents fill out and is scored either during the office visit or shortly thereafter. Based on the scores, further referrals will be made if there are behaviors concerning for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

An excellent website is also available for local autism related resources http://www.arizonaautismsupport.org/index.html.
